one-person routine cleaning

Built for practical production

From manual filling to dependable automation.

RN1S is designed for startups, growing roasters and contract packers that need industrial capsule production without the footprint and investment of a large multi-lane system. One operator can run automatic capsule feeding, dosing, rim cleaning, nitrogen protection, film cutting, sealing and discharge.

Compact by design

Approx. 1960 x 1000 x 2200mm, with movable construction for a more flexible production layout.

Built around your capsule

Configure the machine for your cup, product, lid material and quality-control requirements.

Ready for long shifts

Capable of continuous operation, with an 8-hour daily production shift recommended for routine planning.

Honest production performance

Engineered for 50 CPM where stability matters.

RN1S normally runs at about 50 cycles per minute. Depending on the capsule and material, aluminum Nespresso-compatible projects can operate within a 50-70 CPM range.

Why not advertise 70 CPM?
Seventy cycles per minute is a theoretical mechanical speed. Because RN1S prioritizes a compact, relatively lightweight structure, AFPAK does not recommend 70 CPM for normal production. We specify the speed customers can use with confidence.

With the optional 100% inline weight checker operating, output is approximately 40-45 capsules per minute.

Precision with context

Accuracy you can understand – and reproduce.

Guaranteed standard

+/-0.2g filling accuracy under the confirmed production setup.

Best achievable

Up to +/-0.1g with free-flowing, non-sticky medium-roast coffee, the hopper maintained at about 50-70% full and speed near 50 CPM.

100% weight control

Optional German HBM weighing checks every capsule, displays live values and air-blows out-of-tolerance products into a separate bin.

Important: Powder density, oil content, flowability, particle size, hopper level, capsule format and speed can all influence the final result. The optional checkweigher monitors and rejects; it does not currently feed corrections back to the filler automatically.

A 1-20g filling platform

One base machine, configured around your product.

RN1S can be engineered for a broad range of capsule formats. It does not mean every capsule runs with one universal tooling set: each project receives the product-contact and format parts required by its cup and material.

Nespresso compatible

Aluminum, plastic and biodegradable formats. Typical coffee dose: about 5-6g.

K-Cup compatible

Proven in more than 50 delivered projects. Typical dose can reach approximately 10g depending on product.

Dolce Gusto compatible

Proven in more than 20 delivered projects, with typical coffee doses around 8-10g.

Typical format-change kit
Rotary mold inserts, capsule dropper, auger and filling nozzle when required, tamping components, rim-cleaning head, film cutter for roll-film applications, and sealing head. A complete changeover takes approximately 30 minutes.

RN1S-multiple-capsule-formats

Complete working sequence

Every step from empty cup to sealed capsule.

  1. Automatically feed and position empty capsules.
  2. Detect capsule presence; no capsule means no fill or seal.
  3. Pre-flush the empty capsule with nitrogen.
  4. Vacuum-feed product into the 3-5kg stainless hopper.
  5. Servo-auger dose 1-20g according to the recipe.
  6. Tamp the product and vacuum-clean the capsule rim.
  7. Maintain nitrogen protection through filling and sealing.
  8. Feed registered roll film and cut the lid.
  9. Apply the first auxiliary seal with the cutting station.
  10. Reinforce sealing at the second sealing station.
  11. Optionally weigh every capsule and reject exceptions.
  12. Transfer qualified capsules to the output conveyor.

RN1S coffee capsule filling machine working procedure

Roll-film double sealing

Cut. Seal. Reinforce.

For roll-film projects, the first station supports film cutting and performs the initial seal. The second station reinforces the seal for more consistent closure. Pre-cut-lid projects use a single sealing process.

  • Maximum roll diameter: 350mm
  • Roll core inner diameter: 76mm
  • Maximum film width: 80mm
  • Printed-film registration by photoelectric sensor
  • PID temperature control: 0-400 degrees C
  • Typical film change: about 5 minutes
  • Aluminum foil, paper film and structures such as PET12/PET12/CPP95
  • Missing, broken or registration-error film alarms

Sealing pressure is adjusted through the air-pressure setting. Under confirmed production conditions, the sealing defect rate is below 1%.

RN1S-nitrogen-test-freshness-
More than ten nitrogen injection positions protect the capsule from filling through sealing.

Freshness protection

Nitrogen protection before, during and after filling.

RN1S does more than add nitrogen immediately before sealing. It creates a protected path around the capsule and product throughout the critical filling and sealing stages.

1

Pre-flush the cup

Nitrogen enters before dosing to displace air inside the empty capsule.

2

Protect the product

Two hopper inlets and more than ten injection positions help keep the product inside a nitrogen-protected path.

3

Seal under cover

A closely enclosed nitrogen hood maintains protection until the lid is sealed.

Below 2% residual oxygen
Reference result with Nespresso-compatible capsules at approximately 45 CPM. With nitrogen purity above 99.95% and the gas path pre-flushed for at least 10 minutes, results below 1% can be achieved under suitable conditions.

Reference utilities: approximately 5 Nm3/h nitrogen at about 0.3MPa. Actual results depend on capsule geometry, sealing material, nitrogen purity, machine setup, speed and test method.

RN1S-10-minute-cleaning-900x1200-v2

Tool-free daily care

From production to clean in about 10 minutes.

One operator can release the quick clamp, remove the stainless nitrogen cover, and take out the hopper and auger without tools. Approximately 10 minutes covers disassembly, routine cleaning, drying and reinstallation.

  • About 20 minutes for a deeper product-change cleaning
  • SUS304 product-contact parts as standard
  • SUS316 available as an upgrade
  • Dedicated collection for vacuumed rim powder
  • Anti-bridging agitation available for difficult powders

More room when service begins

Open the sealing area from 2cm to 6cm.

In production mode, the sealing structure maintains a compact working clearance. Stop the machine and select maintenance mode on the touchscreen; a protected pneumatic movement opens the clearance from approximately 2cm to 6cm in about one minute.

The additional space makes the heat-sealing head easier to clean, inspect and replace. Mechanical locking and safety protection help secure the maintenance position.

RN1S-large working-maintenance-space

Quieter working environment

Active sound-reduction engineering, standard.

The upgraded RN1S uses a standard sound-reduction design to reduce noise from the machine and capsule-feeding area. Internal comparisons under the same conditions recorded an improvement of approximately 20dB versus the previous design.

A more comfortable production floor.
The sound-reduction structure is included as standard. Final operating noise still depends on capsule type, feeding system, speed, room acoustics and measurement distance.

Frequently asked questions

Before you choose RN1S.

Can one RN1S make several capsule formats?

Yes, when the machine is supplied with the corresponding format tooling. A typical set may include mold inserts, dropper, filling nozzle, auger where required, tamping and cleaning components, cutter and sealing head. Changeover takes about 30 minutes.

Does +/-0.1g apply to every product?

No. The guaranteed standard is +/-0.2g. Up to +/-0.1g is achievable with suitable free-flowing, non-sticky medium-roast coffee, a hopper maintained around 50-70% full and speed near 50 CPM. Final performance must be confirmed with your samples.

Can RN1S reach 70 capsules per minute?

Seventy CPM is a theoretical mechanical speed, but it is not recommended for normal production. AFPAK recommends approximately 50 CPM for stable output, with 50-70 CPM possible in suitable aluminum Nespresso-compatible applications.

How low can residual oxygen go?

Below 2% is achievable for confirmed Nespresso-compatible production around 45 CPM. With nitrogen purity above 99.95% and the gas path pre-flushed for at least 10 minutes, results below 1% can be achieved under suitable conditions.

What samples are required before manufacturing?

Please provide empty capsules, filling product, sealing film or lids, target dose, target speed and finished-product requirements. AFPAK uses them to confirm tooling, filling tests, sealing parameters and the final configuration.

What support is included?

RN1S includes a 24-month warranty after shipment, online installation guidance, video-call and remote technical support, operating manuals and training. Final delivery and on-site service terms are confirmed in the project proposal.

What is the RN1S coffee capsule filling machine?

RN1S is one of AFPAK’s best-selling models. It is a compact and flexible rotary filling and sealing machine designed to produce multiple capsule formats with the corresponding tooling. It is especially suitable for startups, growing coffee brands, and manufacturers that require reliable small- to medium-volume capsule production.

What are the advantages of a rotary capsule filling machine compared with a linear machine?

A rotary coffee capsule filling machine does not rely on a chain to transport capsules between stations. This eliminates the need to compensate for chain positioning tolerances and helps achieve more precise and repeatable indexing.

The rotary type filling machine is also more convenient for manufacturers that plan to produce different capsule formats. Changing from one capsule type to another generally requires fewer replacement parts, making format changeovers simpler, faster, and easier for operators.

Because the available working space around a rotary table is limited, current rotary coffee capsule machines generally support no more than four production lanes. For small- and medium-volume production, a rotary machine is often the preferred choice because of its compact footprint, accurate positioning, easier format changeover, and operational flexibility.

Linear filling machines are better suited to high-output production. Their reinforced or double-chain transmission systems can accommodate more lanes, additional working stations, and more complex functions, making them suitable for large-scale manufacturing requirements.
