AFPAK YM Series
Mechanical precision.
Built to keep producing.
A cam-driven coffee capsule filling and sealing platform for medium and large coffee companies that demand stable output, precise dosing, and long-term machine durability.

Why YM
Stability starts with how every movement is created.
Instead of relying on air cylinders to time the main vertical movements, the YM Series uses a central mechanical shaft and synchronized cams. Cup dropping, filling-head movement, rim cleaning, film cutting, and sealing rise and fall in a fixed mechanical rhythm.
Mechanically synchronized
The main stations follow the same central drive, reducing timing variation between separate pneumatic movements.
Designed for continuous output
Once the machine is correctly commissioned, the fixed cam profile supports smooth, repeatable production for long shifts.
Fewer pneumatic wear points
The main production movements do not depend on large numbers of cylinders and solenoid valves, reducing common pneumatic maintenance points.
The mechanical heart
One shaft. Multiple cams. Every station in step.
The central shaft rotates the cam system that controls the vertical movement required by the primary packaging stations. Because the motion profile is physically defined, each cycle follows the same sequence and position.
The cams are manufactured from 38CrMoAl nitriding steel and receive a nitriding treatment to improve surface hardness, wear resistance, and dimensional stability. This helps reduce deformation risk during long-term operation.
Grease lubrication is typically performed about once every three months. A routine service can be completed in approximately 30 minutes, depending on operating conditions and the maintenance scope.

A platform that scales
Choose the output your operation needs.
Each lane is engineered for 60-80 mechanical cycles per minute. Select one, two, or three lanes according to your current production plan, or discuss the planned four-lane YM240 for a future high-output project.

Dosing consistency
Precise filling, with 100% weighing when your quality plan demands it.
The standard servo-auger system is designed for approximately ±0.1-0.2g filling accuracy with the specified coffee and operating conditions.
The optional German HBM inline weighing system checks every capsule, allows upper and lower limits to be set, and separates nonconforming capsules at discharge.
- YM80 with inline weighing: approximately 45 capsules/min
- YM120 with inline weighing: approximately 100 capsules/min total
- Planned YM240 with inline weighing: approximately 200-240 capsules/min total
Automatic feedback adjustment of the dosing system is planned for future development and is not included in the current configuration.
Freshness protection
More than 20 nitrogen points protect the capsule before sealing.
Before filling
The empty capsule is pre-flushed to displace air before the coffee enters.
After filling
Additional nitrogen is introduced around the coffee and throughout the protected transfer area.
Before sealing
A nitrogen protection cover maintains the controlled environment before the lid is sealed.
AFPAK manual spot checks have achieved residual oxygen below 1% at approximately 50 cycles/min with Nespresso-compatible capsules. This is an internal spot-check result, not a certified laboratory report; actual results depend on capsule geometry, film, nitrogen purity, pressure, speed, and machine configuration.

Roll-film sealing
Cut, position, and seal every lid in one continuous process.
Registered roll film
Supports printed roll film with photoelectric registration. Maximum roll diameter is approximately 400mm; applicable web width is approximately 320-350mm, subject to project confirmation.
Vacuum lid positioning
Vacuum stabilization helps keep the freshly cut lid aligned before sealing.
Two-stage heat sealing
The first station provides an auxiliary seal. The second performs the primary seal using adjustable head height, spring characteristics, and PID temperature control from 0-400°C.
A typical roll-film change takes about five minutes. Plastic, aluminum, and compostable capsules use the same sealing principle, while the heat-seal head may be customized to match the cup-rim structure. Optional vision inspection can be added for seal-quality detection.
Flexible capsule production
Built around your capsule, not limited to one format.
The YM platform can be engineered for Nespresso-compatible plastic, aluminum, and compostable capsules, as well as K-Cup, Dolce Gusto, Lavazza Blue, Lavazza A Modo Mio, and other customized formats. Compatibility requires the correct format kit and project engineering.
Approximately 30-minute format change
Only the capsule-contact and format-specific components are replaced. A second production kit may include the mold core, filling nozzle, film cutter, heat-seal head, powder suction head, and capsule magazine.
The control system can store programs for up to two capsule formats.

Configure the line
Add the quality-control and packaging functions your product requires.
Bottom filter system
Cuts and inserts filter paper for compatible aluminum or specialty capsules. The capsule bottom must use a suitable flat structure.
Inline weight control
Uses German HBM sensors to weigh every capsule and reject products outside the selected tolerance.
Liquid flavor dosing
Dispenses an adjustable liquid flavor dose for flavored coffee products.
Laser coding
Adds production dates, batch information, logos, or QR codes.
Vision inspection
Optional visual inspection can be configured for seal or appearance checks.
Cartoning connection
Connect the capsule output to YM10 semi-automatic or B10 fully automatic cartoning equipment.
Customer proof
Coffee Company from Dubai: European-quality expectations at the right scale.
One of Dubai’s leading coffee companies selected the YM80 after operating a four-lane Italian machine. The customer wanted equipment approaching European build quality without purchasing more capacity than its production plan required.
The YM80 fills aluminum Nespresso-compatible capsules for approximately six hours per day. AFPAK technicians accompanied the customer for two consecutive days of production testing during commissioning.

Safety and construction
Designed for professional food production.
Food-contact construction
Product-contact parts use SUS304 stainless steel, with SUS316 available as an upgrade.
Interlocked guarding
Safety doors are interlocked so the machine stops when a protected door is opened.
Production protection
Emergency stop, missing cup, missing film, low material, low air pressure, and overload protection support safer operation.
The YM Series is available with CE certification and is designed to comply with applicable European electrical requirements. Final certification scope is confirmed for each order.

Frequently asked questions
Before you choose a YM configuration
Why does the YM Series use cams instead of pneumatic cylinders for the main movements?
The central cam system mechanically synchronizes the vertical movements of the cup-dropping, filling, rim-cleaning, film-cutting, and sealing stations. Pneumatic cylinders are retained mainly as protective retraction devices when a mold position has no capsule.
Can the machine run 24 hours per day?
The YM platform is designed for continuous production and can operate for 24-hour schedules when correctly commissioned, supplied with suitable utilities and materials, and maintained according to the operating manual.
Which capsule formats can it produce?
The platform can be customized for Nespresso-compatible plastic, aluminum, and compostable capsules, K-Cup, Dolce Gusto, Lavazza Blue, Lavazza A Modo Mio, and other formats. Each format requires the correct tooling and engineering confirmation.
How long does a capsule-format change take?
A typical tooling change takes approximately 30 minutes for trained operators. Format-specific contact parts, such as mold cores, filling nozzles, cutters, sealing heads, suction heads, and magazines, may need replacement.
How is coffee freshness protected?
More than 20 nitrogen points can pre-flush empty capsules, protect coffee after filling, and maintain the atmosphere before sealing. Internal spot checks have achieved below 1% residual oxygen at about 50 cycles/min with Nespresso-compatible capsules; final results depend on the project.
Does online weighing reduce production speed?
Yes. Weighing every capsule requires sensor response time. Reference outputs are approximately 45 capsules/min for YM80, around 100 capsules/min total for YM120, and a planned 200-240 capsules/min for YM240.
How often does the cam system need lubrication?
Grease lubrication is typically recommended about once every three months. A routine maintenance operation can take approximately 30 minutes, depending on conditions and the work performed.
Is YM240 already in production?
No. YM240 is currently a planned four-lane customized configuration. Its target output is 240-320 capsules/min, but final specifications will be confirmed during engineering and validation.
